The Krogen 70 Represents the Best of Kadey-Krogen Yachts.

  • More than 5,000 nm range
  • Stand-up engine room
  • Full beam master stateroom
  • Three watertight bulkheads
  • Large flybridge with outdoor dining options
  • Spacious boat deck to accommodate sizeable tender
  • Semi-custom to accommodate owners’ specific requirements

The genesis of the Krogen 70 project came from experienced Krogen owners with a keen interest in an even more spacious raised pilothouse design along with world-cruising capabilities. Yet the 70 still meets Kadey-Krogen’s objectives of designing and building passagemaking yachts that can be operated by an experienced cruising couple—a mission that is engrained in the company’s DNA. During the design phase, our team also ensured we incorporated the best and proven features of the Krogen 58 while providing even more flexibility and accommodations. This exciting new model also allows cruisers to head off the grid for an entire season if they prefer without the need to refuel thanks to the projected 5,300-nautical-mile range at 7 knots. Expect a cruising range of 8 to 9 knots with a top speed of 11 knots.

For many owners, the pilothouse is not only the navigation and systems control center of their yacht but a social center as well. With an expanded U-shaped pilothouse settee, a larger table, and a penthouse-like view, the Krogen 70 has real great-room potential for family and friends aboard. Plus, the massive galley is open to the saloon with a breakfast bar. Opposite the galley is a wet bar with easy access from the cockpit, saloon, and pilothouse. The Krogen 70 features two lower-deck options; two or three double guest cabins, each with the owners’ stateroom amidships. A choice also exists for a crew cabin aft, featuring a utility room and direct engine-room access.

Krogen 70 Design & Engineering

One item we’ve discovered over the years is that even experienced yachtsmen tend to think that all full displacement vessels are the same. Nothing could be further from the truth! Starting with a proven hull design, the 70 takes the best of all Krogen models and the company’s more than 45 years of experience and places it all within its flagship model. The company’s Pure Full Displacement hull not only allows for comfortable and efficient passages, but it provides tremendous volume to accommodate significant storage and tankage. It’s also key to note that it is not and will never be the practice of Kadey-Krogen Yachts to take our smaller models and stretch them to much larger models with a wedge or extension in the tooling. Not only does this compromise the architectural integrity of the model, we’ve also found that the practice lends itself to compromising the overall design objectives.

Like all Krogens, the 70 is solid fiberglass below the waterline, and then the coring material is vacuum-bagged in place everywhere above the waterline. Utilizing core materials and the vacuum-bagging process creates a stronger result that weighs less. In addition, the hull laminations include an aramid fiber like those used in bulletproof vests. Stronger combined with lighter also means more efficient, a key objective in a yacht like the Krogen 70 that is designed to conquer every corner of the globe.
