Small Ship Status

Trying to put boats in specific categories can sometimes be an impossible exercise, but Nor'Westing had no trouble classifying the Krogen 58' as a "small ship" and with good reason. After examining the boat's construction, layout, and twin screw design, the editor came to the conclusion that the 58' is a seaworthy and stout yacht and he identified the many ways we focus our attention on building boats that impress as seagoing and liveaboard yachts. Another "small ship", the 55' Expedition, was recently tested by Sea Magazine. Their review shares the advantages of the boat's wide body design as well as the spacious, dedicated machinery space. Sea's writer, Roger McAfee, had a chance to meet Kadey-Krogen customers during the sea trial and experienced firsthand the responsive helm and solid ride of the Kadey-Krogen 55'.
