The Krogen 48' AE Fishing Machine!

August 11, 2011

Most people don't associate the sport fishing nomenclature "battlewagon" with a Kadey-Krogen, but the term was apropos this past week when the latest Krogen 48' AE "Morse Code III" spent 1.5 hours fighting an 8 foot Blue Marlin in the middle of the gulfstream approximately 100 miles east of Jacksonville, Florida. "Morse Code III" was on her maiden voyage from Stuart, Florida to Annapolis, Maryland with her owners as well as Kadey-Krogen's Service Manager, Gregg Gandy, and esteemed journalist from Power and Motoryacht Magazine, Bill Pike, aboard. They had been trolling peacefully along hooking an occasional Mahi Mahi when zing! - the marlin hit. As they looked astern the crew could see the fish tail walking across the water. They fought Lucifer, as they aptly named the fish, and got him to within 50 feet of the boat when he magically wrangled the hook out of his mouth and swam off. While the big one got away, the crew enjoyed at least one dinner of fresh Mahi Mahi with much more frozen for later use.
